Introduction
Push-To-Talk
(PTT) is an instant, half-duplex communication medium that
allows callers to connect rapidly with each other and
enjoy short, bursty conversations that get the important
parts of the message across in less time than a phone
call. When PTT is introduced into a cellular network the
use of private channels, and a range as large at that of
the underlying cellular network exponentially increase its
advantages. A key driver of PTT is one-to-many group
conversations, where the calling-party can instantly and
simultaneously communicate with all the members in a
group. One such call could replace a dozen individual
calls, making the productivity case very clear.
